Sporting Occasions
David Purdie was born & bred to sports and has played Cricket, Rugby and Golf, particularly the latter – given his hometown of Prestwick, scene of the first Open Championship. His lowest handicap was 4 and he is a member of Sunningdale Golf Club and an overseas member of Pine Valley in the U.S.
He is regularly invited to speak at golfing occasions which may be corporate, or a golf clubs own annual dinner or a special function. He was the invited speaker at Sunningdale’s and Walton Heath’s Centenaries – and at the 250th anniversary of the R&A at St. Andrews.
He has also been selected to speak at Dinners of; the Association of Golf Writers at The Open, the Lord's Taverners at Lord's and the Tennis & Racquets Association. As always, his approach is one of support for the Host, for the Game and for sportsmanship – allied to serious good humour.
